Demand charges

Demand charges are a relatively new charge on energy bills. They are applied retrospectively based off the maximum amount of electricity you used during any thirty minute period within certain hours, on the days of the week that the demand charge applies, during a billing period.

Low Season Demand (Demand component will be billed based on the highest 30-minute KW reading in the maximum demand period for each month and is not based on a rolling 12-month period)

Between 1st July and 30th November, each month you will be charged 3.72c per kWh for the highest amount of power used in a single half-hour period (doubled to create an hourly rate) over the month in the window of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday between 15:00 and 21:00.

Controlled load import costs

A controlled load is a seperate circuit connected to your house, usually used to heat water or run a pool pump. Controlled loads are usually charged at a different rate to your main electricity supply. Some retailers charge a seperate daily fee to have a controlled load connected to your house. While historically controlled loads could be used to take advantage of surplus power in the grid overnight, they may not be as cost effective (or convenient) as they once were due to the abundance of midday solar power.

Controlled Load

Daily supply charge 0.00c

Unit price: 0.15c (inc GST) per kWh.

Applies on: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 01:00am to 01:00am

Membership Fee

Some plans charge a membership fee in order to access the rates the advertise. This fee is usually charged monthly, but here we're showing the annual cost to allow for a yearly comparison between plans to be made.
