Demand charges

Demand charges are a relatively new charge on energy bills. They are applied retrospectively based off the maximum amount of electricity you used during any thirty minute period within certain hours, on the days of the week that the demand charge applies, during a billing period.

Summer Demand (December-March Mon-Fri Ex public holidays 3 pm to 9 pm AEST)

Between 1st December and 31st March, each day you will be charged 0.30c per kWh for the highest amount of power used in a single half-hour period (doubled to create an hourly rate) over the month in the window of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday between 15:00 and 21:00.

Non- Summer Demand (April-November Mon-Fri Ex public holidays 3 pm to 9 pm AEST)

Between 1st April and 30th November, each day you will be charged 0.10c per kWh for the highest amount of power used in a single half-hour period (doubled to create an hourly rate) over the month in the window of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday between 15:00 and 21:00.

Eligibility

This plan is available to the following customers.

  • Offer only available when signing up through Electricity Wizard.

Incentives

This plan offers the following incentives.

  • Account Credit: $100 (inc GST) credit will be applied to your account after sign-up. You will see it on MyAccount and it will be applied to your electricity bill. Credit is non-refundable.
  • Solar feed-in tariffs: If on 1 Nov 2024 you were an active Origin customer receiving the Victorian government Premium Feed-In Tariff, then from 2 Nov 2024 you could receive a FIT of 6 cents made up of our standard retailer FIT of 3.3c/kWh and an additional FIT of 2.7c /kWh.

Green power

This plan allows you to purchase green power.

  • GreenPower 25: For 1.13 cents/kWh 25% of your electricity usage is matched with electricity from Government accredited GreenPower sources
  • GreenPower 50: For 2.25 cents/kWh 50% of your electricity usage is matched with electricity from Government accredited GreenPower sources
  • GreenPower 100: For 4.50 cents/kWh 100% of your electricity usage is matched with electricity from Government accredited GreenPower sources

Contract expiry

We'll give you notice before your contract ends. At the end of the contract term, we will continue to sell you energy and the terms and conditions of the Standard Retail Contract will apply, unless you tell us otherwise.
